In a blog post, Ian Small, CEO of Evernote, said, “The re-engineered web client (in limited release), the new mobile clients (in first preview), and the (as yet unreleased) new clients for Windows, Mac, and (yes!) Linux, along with the ongoing re-architecture and data migration we’ve been doing in the cloud, will set up Evernote to be able to innovate and ship with quality at a pace we haven’t seen in a long time.” But that will soon be changing, as Evernote recently announced an official Linux client is on the way. Evernote has always been available for Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS. However, the one platform missing from the list was Linux. Since the beginning it was labeled a cross-platform application. It is only for opening the quick note taking app.Evernote has been one of the more popular note taking apps for quite some time.

There is no option to quit Evernote here. This gives you another note taking application on Linux but it also presents a problem. It opens the Scratch Pad for you to type a quick note. There is an app indicator that seems like a way to launch a minimized Evernote application, like Skype on Linux. If you click on the X button to close the Evernote application, the program goes in background instead of exiting. The changes took into effect only after I restarted Evernote app.Īnother issue is about closing the application. However, when I changed the system theme to light or standard, it didn’t change theme application theme immediately.

There are a few annoyances here and there with the software being in beta.Īs you can notice in the image above, Evernote Linux client detected the dark mode in Ubuntu and switched to dark theme automatically. Experiencing the beta version of Evernote Linux client You may enjoy using Evernote on Linux now.
